Minelab metal detectors

Minelab started out as in 1985 a consumer oriented company in Australia, with a focus on advanced electronic technology. The products which were marketed included metal detectors, to be used for hobby treasure hunters, but also in order to provide high quality detection equipment for the military and for humanitarian de-mining. The statistics are staggering, over fifty million land mines are buried worldwide and the physicist and engineer, Dr. Bruce Candy, designed metal mine detectors of extraordinary quality.
Modern mines have very less metal parts, which made it very difficult to locate. If the soil is full of minerals, it was almost impossible to locate mines, because the mineralized soil disturbed the detection. More sophisticated metal detectors were needed, in order to locate such mines. Minelab developed just such technology, where mineralized soils could be excluded from disturbing the metal detecting ability of the apparatus. Such highly differentiating and sophisticated metal detectors became instantly popular with the relic hunters, who needed a metal detector able to eliminate the mineralized soil disturbances.
The latest technology, including an USB interface, in order to upload and download saved settings, modes and discrimination patterns as saved and programmed by the user, in order to share them, make a copy, upload and download them by use of a personal computer.
The flagship of Minelab’s metal detectors is a very sophisticated piece of machinery with an advanced technological interface providing an unparalleled amount of power to the relic hunter. The E-Trac supposedly can eliminate a wide diversity of mineralized soils and conditions, some of which are salty soils, wet beach sand, magnetic ground and sea water. It can detect and distinguish gold and jewelry, coins and relics alike.
Detector settings for the USB interface are downloadable from the web page or available in several community forums around the world. Coil is water proof and light, eleven inch in diameter. The interface comes with a software CD including a user guide.
There are so many features and settings to this metal detector, that it is probably a little bit too advanced for a beginner. Nevertheless, the programmer anticipated the customer being intimidated by the wide variety of settings available, they added settings for automatic detection, manual selection of settings and suggested settings for applicable circumstances.
Three different underwater metal detectors are being offered, with operation capabilities of up to 200 feet under water, specially developed for divers, but just as effective on land, on sandy beaches, in salt or fresh water alike. The body is painted in fluorescent colors, providing better visibility under water.
